Teaching Ask TED your team's words

Last updated 2026-10-29

Every team has words that mean something specific to them — "backed out" might mean a buyer contract that fell through after signing, or "the DD date" the inspection deadline. The Ask TED glossary is where you teach Ask TED those words. Ask TED reads the whole list every time you ask it something, so a new or changed term takes effect on your next question.

Open it from Settings > Deals > Ask TED Glossary. Everyone on the team can see the list; only team admins can change it.

Adding a term

  1. Select Add Term.
  2. Type the word or phrase under Term (up to 60 characters) and what it means under What it means (up to 300 characters).
  3. Optionally, pick a field under Means this field (optional) — for example, point "the DD date" at a deal's inspection deadline so Ask TED knows exactly which number you mean. Search the list or leave it on No field.
  4. Select Add Term to save it.

Terms are listed alphabetically. Each row shows the term, what it means, and a Means this field tag when you picked one.

Editing or deleting a term

Open a term's ⋯ menu and choose Edit to change it in place, then select Save Term. Choose Delete to remove it — Ask TED stops using it from your next question.

Common issues

  • "That term already exists" — your team already has that term. Matching ignores capitals, so "Backed out" and "backed out" are the same term. Edit the existing one instead.
  • "You've reached 100 terms" — a team can have up to 100 terms. Delete one you no longer need to make room.

See Using Ask TED for everything else Ask TED can do.
