Global Fields browses every value on TED's shared, cross-team lists — one tab per domain: Markets, Lead Source, Contact Type, Company Type, Selling Reason, Cancelled Reason, Title Issues & Liens, Deal Types, Strategies, and Renegotiation Reasons. Every value shows its slug and an Active/Inactive badge.
Adding a value directly
Select Add [Domain] on a tab, type the name (Markets also asks for a 2-letter State code; Deal Types asks you to pick an Archetype — Wholesale, Listing, Novation, or Purchase — the engine behavior the new deal type runs; Cancelled Reason asks for a Side — Seller-side or Buyer-side, Seller-side by default; Strategies and Renegotiation Reasons have no extra field), and confirm. This inserts straight into the shared list immediately — it skips the request queue entirely, so use it when you already know a value needs to exist rather than waiting on a team to ask for it.
Deal Types and archetype
Every deal type carries one of four archetypes — Wholesale, Listing, Novation, or Purchase — which controls how the deal behaves in automators and custom fields. (Commission rules are limited by each team's own deal types, not by archetype — a rule set to Fix & Flip doesn't pay on other Purchase-archetype deals.) The Deal Types tab shows the archetype next to each value, and you can change it any time from the same dropdown — renaming a deal type never touches its archetype.
Each deal type row also has two flip-project settings, and both save as soon as you change them:
- Project side — No project, Buy side, or Sell side. Fix & Flip is the buy side and Retail Resale is the sell side of a flip; the deal type picker shows "Buy side of a flip" / "Sell side of a flip" next to them.
- Uses Project Manager — when on, the type is marked as a project deal type, and the team's Deal Types settings page captions the row Adds a Project Manager seat. Deals of that type get a PM seat on the deal header and the New Deal form; deals of every other type never show it.
Changing the archetype is bigger than a rename: it re-classifies every existing deal already on that deal type to the new archetype, so their automators and custom fields follow the new class. Picking a new archetype shows a confirmation with the number of deals affected before anything changes — confirm to apply it, or cancel to back out.
Cancelled Reasons and side
Every cancelled reason is Seller-side or Buyer-side. The Cancelled Reason tab shows a Side dropdown next to each value — change it any time and it applies right away. It only changes how the shared value is grouped; each team's own copy of the reason keeps the side the team set.
Renaming or deactivating a value
Hover a row for a pencil icon (rename inline) and an archive icon (deactivate) — a deactivated value shows Inactive and the icon flips to let you reactivate it. Deactivating doesn't delete anything or break existing mappings; it just hides the value from new picks going forward.
This is the same shared, Ted-wide list that Requesting new values and Reviewing global requests also add to.
