See Messaging your team for what a channel, group, and DM each are — this article covers finding your way around once you have several.
The All view
The tabs above the conversation list — All, DMs, Groups, Channels — filter what you see. All groups everything into sections:
- Deals — any conversation linked to a deal, including a deal's own automatic Chat. Any channel, group, or DM can be linked to one or more deals from the link icon in its header, which also moves it into this section.
- Channels, Groups, and Direct Messages — everything else, grouped by type.
Searching
Select the search icon at the top of the conversation list to search message content across your conversations, or use the search box to filter the conversation list itself by name.
Mentioning a teammate
Inside a channel, group, or DM, type @ followed by a name and pick them from the dropdown — only people already in that conversation show up. The mention highlights in the posted message, and the person gets a notification that deep-links straight to it — see Understanding notifications. (A deal's own Chat tab doesn't support @-mentions — use its Comments tab instead if you need to mention someone there.)
Who's in a conversation
For a group or channel, select the member-count icon (top right of the message view) to see everyone in it, with an Admin badge on team admins. DMs don't show this — it's always just the two of you.
