Joining a team

Last updated 2026-07-22

You can join a team two ways: a join link anyone on the team can share, or a personal email invite sent to you directly. Both walk you through the same account steps, then drop you onto the team's dashboard.

Using a join link

Open the link you were given. If you already have an account, sign in when prompted, then select Join Team. If you don't, fill in Email, Full Name, Password, and Confirm Password, then select Create Account & Join.

If you're signed in and already belong to the team, you'll see "Already a Member" with a button straight to the team dashboard.

Using an email invite

Open the invite link sent to your email. The page shows who invited you and which team and organization it's for. If you already have an account, select Join Team. If not, set your Full Name and Password (your email is already filled in) and select Create Account & Join — since the invite was sent to that address, there's no separate email-confirmation step; it takes you straight into the team.

If your account is signed in under a different email than the invite was sent to, you'll see "Wrong Account" — log out and sign in with the correct account, or create a new account with the invited email instead.

If an account with that email already exists, you'll be told to log in instead of creating a new one.

Confirming your email (join link only)

Joining via a join link (not an email invite) may still require confirming your email — you'll see "Check Your Email" if so. Open the confirmation link we sent to finish joining; after confirming, you can access the team.

If you're already signed in

A pending invitation also shows up as a pinned card at the top of your Inbox in the left-hand navigation, which lists any invitations waiting on your email with a View Invitation button — see Understanding notifications. It takes you to the same invite page described above.

Common issues

  • "Invalid Join Link" / "Invitation Not Found" — the link is wrong or has already been used. Ask whoever sent it for a fresh one.
  • "Join Link Disabled" — the team turned off their join link. Ask a team admin to invite you directly instead.
  • "Invitation Expired" — ask the team admin to send a new invitation.
  • "Invitation Revoked" — the invite is no longer valid; contact the team admin if that seems wrong.
  • "Setup didn't finish" — your email confirmed, but we hit a snag finishing your join. Select Try again on that page — you won't need to redo the signup form. If it keeps happening, contact support.

See Creating an account for the account-setup fields themselves, and Switching between teams once you're in and belong to more than one team.
