Viewing a company

Last updated 2026-10-16

Selecting a company in the Companies tab opens its own page. The quick side panel is still there when you follow a link that names a company (for example From companies on a contact's buy box): select Open full profile at the top of the panel to go to the page described here.

The page shows the company's name, then Overview and one tab for each type the company carries (Lender, Title Company, Buyer, and so on). A company with no type has Overview only. The tab you're on is saved in the page's web address, so a link opens on the tab it was copied from.

The header

  • Type chips — one for each type the company carries. Select the x on a chip to remove that type, or Add type to pick another from your team's active types. A type can't be removed while the company is still on a deal in that role — a vendor attached under it, the deal's title company, or its lender — you'll see "This type has deal history and can't be removed." Swapping a type for another one in the same group is fine.
  • Owner — the teammate who owns this relationship; change it from the dropdown.
  • Buyer tier — shown only when the company has a Buyer tab. A dropdown with a colored dot for the company's tier (VIP, Gold, Silver, Bronze by default); change it any time. A buyer company you haven't ranked yet shows Unverified, in grey with a lock. See Ranking buyers with Buyer Tiers.
  • Team rating — the average of the reviews your team has left for the people at this company; see Rating and favoriting contacts.
  • Opt out from deal marketing — excludes this company from deal marketing sends only, not one-to-one or automator deal emails.
  • Call and Email — use the company's own primary phone and email (separate from any one person's). Each is greyed out with a reason when it can't work: "No phone on file" or "No email on file."

Add a Person is the main button in the top right; the ⋯ menu next to it has Edit Company and Archive — and, for team admins, Merge with… (see Merging duplicate contacts and companies). If you only have view-only access you won't see any of them.

Overview

  • Contact Info — the company's address, website, and its own phones, emails, and faxes. Phone numbers and emails are clickable.
  • Company details — any fields your team added for every company in Contact Fields (an EIN, for example). Select the pencil next to one to fill it in, then Save ⟨field⟩. It only appears once your team has set up at least one.
  • People — everyone linked to the company, described below.
  • Documents — the company's W-9, insurance, wire instructions, entity docs, NDAs and the like, with an amber or red badge as each one nears or passes its expiry date. See Keeping documents on contacts and companies.
  • Notes — a shared note that autosaves, same as deal notes.
  • Timeline — everything that has happened with the company, newest first: notes (the note box is at the top), edits with who made them (name, address, website, phones and emails, owner, buyer tier, types, custom fields, people linked, unlinked or re-kinded — select Show details for the old and new values), emails TED sent to the company's own addresses, and deal links. Chips — All, Notes, Edits, Emails, Deals — show one kind at a time; Load More at the bottom reads older items. Texts and calls stay on each person's own timeline.
  • Deals with this company — deals where the company itself is a vendor, the title company, or the lender, with the role on each row.
  • Deals through its people — every deal any of the people linked to the company is on, in any role, with who it's through. A deal two colleagues are both on appears once, naming both. For a very large company, only the first 25 people are read.

People

The People card lists everyone currently linked to the company, the main contact first. Each person has:

  • Relationship — Owns, Works at, or POC for.
  • Title — for example "Escrow Officer". It saves when you leave the field.
  • Main contact — a switch. Only one person at a company can be the main contact; turning it on for someone moves it from whoever had it. The main contact is the company's point of contact everywhere: the company list and panel, and the first choice in a deal's Title Company POC picker.
  • Phones and emails on this link — numbers that belong to this person at this company, separate from their own. Select Edit phones and emails to change them, or Add a phone or email for this link.
  • Set as the person's primary company — marks this as that person's primary company.
  • End — ends the relationship.

Select Add a Person to link someone: search for an existing contact (or create a new one), choose the relationship and an optional title, and select Add Person. If the two were linked before and the link was ended, adding them again brings their earlier phones and emails back.

Ending a relationship

End asks first: "End Ann Lee's relationship with Acme Title?" Nothing is deleted. Their phones and emails on that relationship stay on both profiles under Past, and every deal they worked together stays. If they were the company's main contact, the company is left without one. The change is noted in both the company's and the person's activity.

Past (under the People list) shows ended relationships, most recent first, with when each ended and the phones and emails that were saved on it.

The same card appears on a contact's page as Companies, for the other direction: which companies this person works at, owns, or represents.

Type tabs

  • A Buyer tab starts with the Buyer verification checklist — the same card as on a person's Buyer tab, with Not a buyer and the Going cold badge. See Verifying buyers. Below the company's buy boxes, Deals that fit lists your open deals that fit them, with Send this deal — see Finding buyers and lenders.
  • Every tab starts with a Coverage card: that type's coverage type (Nationwide, Regional, or Specialty) and its markets. A type with none shows "No coverage set for ⟨type⟩" — select Add markets, pick the states and metro areas, and select Save Coverage; Edit coverage changes it later. Each type keeps its own coverage, so a company that is both a Title Company and a Buyer can cover different markets in each. Nationwide or Specialty with no markets still shows as coverage; only Regional with no markets counts as none. Removing a type keeps its coverage and markets, but they stop counting — in the side panel's Coverage list, the Market filter, and the export — until you add the type back.
  • This is where a title company's coverage lives. The people linked to the company see it, read-only, on their own Title Company tab with "Inherited from ⟨company⟩ — edit it there" — you change it once, here.
  • A Brokerage tab starts with the office's Broker (its main contact), its Agents, their combined listing and buyer's sides, and every deal they worked with you, split by side. See Agents and brokerages.
  • Lender and Buyer tabs show the company's lending boxes or buy boxes — what it funds or is looking for — the same feature described on a contact's profile. A new box opens with the states and metro areas from the tab's coverage already filled in.
  • Buyer, Title Company, vendor (Contractor, Property Management…) and Lender tabs carry a scorecard — the same numbers as on a contact's profile, for the company and the people who work there, each deal counted once. A title company's shows its closings, average days from contract to closing, what you've paid it, its main markets, and its rating as a title company; a lender's shows deals funded and open.
  • Every tab has a Reviews card with the company's rating: the average of the reviews left on the people who work there. A company isn't reviewed directly — open one of its people from Overview to leave a review.
  • Any tab shows that type's custom fields and the deals where the company plays that role. A tab with no fields, boxes, or deals yet says so under those cards, and offers to add the type's first field.

If something didn't load

If the page can't load you'll see "Couldn't load this company" with Try Again. A link to a company that doesn't exist or was archived shows "This company doesn't exist or was archived" with Back to Companies.

Editing or archiving

Select ⋯ then Edit Company to change the name, address, types, phones, emails, and custom fields. Coverage isn't on that form — change it on the tab for the type it applies to. Archive hides the company everywhere but keeps its deals and history — see Archiving and restoring contacts and companies. An archived company's page shows a banner with a Restore button.

If the same business is in TED twice, a team admin can select ⋯ then Merge with… to fold the duplicate into this company — its people, phones and emails, boxes, documents and deals all move across. A link to a company that was merged opens the company it was merged into.
