The Email tab on a deal lists every email TED has sent that's linked to it, and lets you send more. You need a connected mailbox to send.
Composing
Select Compose, fill in To (required — often prefilled with the seller's email), optional Cc and Bcc, a Subject, and your message, then send. You can attach files up to 3MB total across up to 10 files. The dialog reminds you it "Sends from your connected mailbox."
To start from one of your team's email templates, pick it from Template at the top of the compose window. It fills in the subject and message — names, the property, dates, your name — and you can edit both before sending. Picking a template replaces whatever subject and message were already there. If a field has nothing to fill it, that spot is left blank and the window names it, for example "Recipient First Name is empty here — left blank."
If anyone you're sending to is marked Do not email on their contact profile, nothing is sent and the compose window says so above the recipients — for example "Not sent — jane@example.com is marked do not email. Remove it and send again." Your draft stays as you typed it; take that address out of To, Cc or Bcc and send again. The same check applies to replies and to reviewing an automator's email.
You can also email a contact without a deal: on the contact's profile, the Email button opens the same compose window addressed to their primary email. An email sent that way isn't linked to any deal; you can link it to one later from the contact's timeline (the Emails chip). Template works there too: the contact's name, your name, the team and today's date fill in, but there's no deal, so a template that uses deal fields shows "This template uses deal fields (…) — they'll be blank here." and leaves those spots empty for you to fill in.
Seeing who opened and clicked
When any To address belongs to one of your team's contacts, TED adds a tiny invisible image and routes each link in your message through TED, so it can tell when the email is opened and when a link is clicked. Web addresses you type into the message become clickable links so their clicks count too. Emails only to people who aren't contacts go out exactly as you wrote them. Replies are tracked the same way.
When you compose to a contact — from the deal's Email tab or a contact's profile, with their address still in To — the compose window shows a Tracked tag. Point at it (or tab to it) to read "TED records opens (a hint) and link clicks for emails to your contacts". If you change To to someone else, the tag goes away unless they're also one of your contacts. Emails to your contacts are still tracked even when the tag isn't showing. Reviewed automator drafts always show it.
Once the recipient engages, the email's row here, on the contact's timeline and in the open email shows Opened and, after a link is clicked, Clicked 2 (how many clicks). Opens are only a hint — some mail apps block images, and Apple Mail loads them for everyone automatically, so those aren't counted; the info icon next to Opened says so. A click also counts as an open, and clicks are the more reliable signal. Opening your own sent email inside TED never counts, but your own mail app showing the message in your Sent folder can.
How emails link to a deal
An email you send from this tab links here automatically. On a contact's timeline, any of their messages not yet tied to a deal show a Link to deal action you can use manually. To remove a message from a deal without deleting it, hover the row and select the unlink icon — it stays visible on the contact's own activity, and can be linked again later.
What TED can and can't do with email
TED can send email from your mailbox and file a copy against this deal. It does not currently read incoming mail — if a seller or vendor replies, that reply lands in your own inbox, not here. See Missing or delayed emails for the full picture.
Monthly email limit
Every plan includes a set number of emails your organization can send per month. If you try to send while already at that limit, you'll see a Monthly email limit reached message telling you how many emails you've sent this month and how many your plan includes — your draft (recipient, subject, message, and any attachments) stays exactly as you typed it, so you can copy it elsewhere or wait until the limit resets next month. An Upgrade button takes you to the plan picker — only the account owner can change the plan there, so if that's not you, ask them to upgrade.
The limit resets at the start of each calendar month and applies to every email your organization sends — both from this dialog and from an automator's automatic sends. If an automator's email step hits the limit, that run pauses with an "Email paused" banner instead of silently failing or losing the step — see Needs attention on a run.
Automator-sent email
If an automator on this deal has an email step, drafts waiting on you show in a strip above the message list — see Reviewing and sending automator emails for how those work.
